The chapel, first mentioned in 1348, is said to have been so badly damaged in the village fire of 1722 that a new building became necessary. After this fire disaster, it was popularly known as Agatha Chapel, patron saint against fire, although neither a picture nor a statue of St. Agatha are present in the chapel.
