With touring skis through the freeride paradise of Goms
The Goms is a true paradise for all ski tourers. With its perpetually snow-covered mountains and powder slopes as far as the eye can see, the high valley of Goms offers everything that makes a ski tourer’s or splitboarder’s heart beat faster. Thanks to the Matterhorn Gotthard Railway, you can easily reach the starting point of your tour. Once you reach the summit in Goms, the adrenaline-filled descent through the snow-covered landscape can begin. Ski touring requires taking personal responsibility for assessing your own abilities, the weather conditions and the avalanche risk. It’s recommended that you always follow the safety guidelines of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC). To ensure additional safety, it can be wise to bring along an experienced guide. Ultimately, however, responsibility lies with each individual person.
Behavioural and safety rules:
- Adapt your equipment to the winter conditions and the specific tour objective. Standard emergency gear includes an avalanche transceiver (LVS), probe and shovel, as well as a first-aid kit and mobile phone. Check your equipment before every tour!
- Prepare well for a tour and carry out careful tour planning.
- Always observe the avalanche bulletin.
- Respect nature: Be considerate of wildlife and respect protected areas.
