Obergesteln.

The mountain village of stone.

The stony village in Goms

In former times, Obergesteln was called Castellione (1322) or Obergestillen (1415), which refers to earlier fortifications. The first thing you will notice is that the mountain village is not built of larch wood but almost exclusively of stone - almost unique in the Upper Valais. After the fire of 1868, which almost completely destroyed the village, the Valais government allowed a reconstruction only in stone. In the Middle Ages, Obergesteln was an important customs post on the way from Bern to Upper Italy. Today, many guests stay here who appreciate the golf course and want to get away from it all in the tranquility of the Goms.

Golf course «Source du Rhône»

The longest 9-hole golf course in Switzerland awaits you in Obergesteln. Sophisticated obstacles such as biotopes, the river Rhône or strategically placed bunkers require tactics and smart play. Surrounded by a picturesque landscape and views of the snow-covered mountains, it is a golf swing with pleasure.
