The Ars Electronica Forum Wallis 2025 Selection Concerts are concert programs featuring acousmatic (electroacoustic) music on the 16-channel acousmonium of the MEbU (Münster Earport) in Münster/Goms. The program consists of pieces by the winners of the 10th Call for Acousmatic Works of the Forum Wallis Festival for New Music (http://forumwallis.ch): A total of 279 works by 249 composers from 39 countries and all continents were submitted in 2025. Twenty-six works were selected, and 14 others received a special mention. The works will be performed live by UMS'nJIP.
The special and unique listening experience at MEbU is made possible by an unusual instrument: the Akusmonium—a loudspeaker orchestra developed by the GRM research team in the 1970s at the Maison de Radio France. At MEbU, it was designed by Simone Conforti (IRCAM Paris) in collaboration with UMS'nJIP and is equipped with 16 individually controlled studio loudspeakers. The MEbU Akusmonium is one of the few permanent and publicly accessible Akusmoniums in Europe. The MEbU is an art space for contemporary music by the ensemble for new music UMS'nJIP (Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen), which settled in Münster/Goms in 2022.
