Journey to the Goms.

Closer than you think.

How to get to the Goms

Whether by train or by car: Even the journey to the Goms is an experience. The villages of the Goms are situated between 1200 and 1400 meters above sea level. The roads in the region are well developed and the entire Goms is excellently accessible by public transport (Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn). With the drive through the magnificent mountain landscape, even the journey becomes a vacation.

By car

From the north you drive via Bern through the Lötschberg tunnel (car transport), from the west via the highway (Vevey, Martigny, Sion, Brig), from the east via the Oberalp pass (attention winter closure, car transport with reservation required) and Furka (car transport) and from the south via the Simplon or Nufenen pass into the Valais. In the high season you should allow enough time for the car transport, as traffic is often jammed here. Then follow the main road from Brig in the direction of the Furka and Grimsel passes.

By train

Train travelers arrive via the Lötschberg tunnel, the Simplon tunnel or from Sion via Brig or Visp where they change to the Matterhorn Gotthard railroad. All villages in Goms/Obergoms have a railroad station. By train and car (car transport at the Furka) the Goms is also accessible all year round through the Furka tunnel.
