The Swiss stone pine grows in the Goms valley at altitudes of 1,800 to 2,500 metres above sea level in rare locations, mostly in rocky areas. Its roots often reach over 15 metres into crevices in the rock to find fertile soil. Exposed to all the harshness of nature, the trees form gnarled, weather-beaten landmarks. Often comparable to people, marked on the outside by fate, their interior harbours true beauty. Each individual Swiss stone pine has its own shape, its knots, its "buttini" (bulges). Avalanches and rockfalls tear them down into the valley. Once nature has released them, they make their way to the Arven Leo workshop. The event begins at 5.30 p.m., followed by a cosy aperitif after the guided tour. Duration approx. 2 hours. No registration required, event free of charge.
