At 2,478 metres above sea level, the Nufenen Pass is the highest mountain pass entirely within Switzerland. It connects Valais with Ticino and begins in Ulrichen/Airolo. The Nufenen is the youngest of the three Goms Alpine passes and was opened in 1969.
