As a standalone route or in combination with other sections of the extensive winter hiking trail network of Goms, this route is considered a special treat for nature lovers. Across the snow-covered meadows, you enjoy the expanse of the valley and still feel sheltered between the alpine mountain ranges.
The well-prepared path runs nearby and practically parallel to the cross-country ski tracks of the Goms trail. The Jematten bridge over the young Rhone is used by both winter hikers and cross-country skiers to cross the flowing water body together.
A look back is worthwhile. The mountain village Münster presents a particularly beautiful photo motif from the meadow. As a silhouette in the background, the mighty Galenstock towers.
At Überrotten, you enter the mountain village Reckingen. A detour to the magnificent Valais barn from the year 1617 is recommended. The old agricultural building is considered a valuable witness of traditional Valais architecture and even serves as a photo spot of the Grand Tour in summer.

Safety guidelines
Use of the winter hiking trails is at your own risk. The Obergoms Tourismus AG disclaims all liability and assumes no responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the information on this website.
Carry a hiking map with you or download the complete description of the hiking trail with a large-scale map. Use only marked trails and observe all signs and notices—for your own safety, to protect the landscape, and out of respect for wildlife. Behave considerately towards other trail users. Take your waste and that of others with you.
Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Appropriate clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. In unstable weather, it is better to turn back early.
Carry additional sun protection. UV rays at high altitudes can be particularly strong in winter, even under cloudy skies.
Plan your route carefully and thoroughly. Inform yourself in advance about the current conditions (avalanche danger, cross-country ski trails, winter hiking trails, snowshoe trails as well as road conditions) and weather conditions. The winter sports report provides valuable information from the region.
