PROGRAM
With their late-summer concert at the Parish Church of the Assumption of Mary, the two Münster-based musicians Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen cordially invite residents and visitors alike to a cozy, contemplative, and entertaining musical experience.

Their program—Mayer-Spohn and Hagen both studied early music—bridges the gap from late medieval music with ties to the Valais, through works from the Sistine Chapel in Rome during Cardinal Schiner’s lifetime, selected gems of the Italian and French Baroque, all the way to arrangements of popular Valais folk songs by Gregor Brantschen, Adolf Imhof, and the Burgener siblings.
As UMS’nJIP, Ulrike Mayer-Spohn and Javier Hagen are one of the world’s most distinguished ensembles for contemporary new music and are regulars at the most important new music festivals around the globe: at the Venice Biennale, Shanghai New Music Week, the Liceu in Barcelona, the Teatro Colón in Buenos Aires, the Palacio de Bellas Artes in Mexico City, and the Alexandrinsky Theater in St. Petersburg. In 2022, they will settle in Goms and, together with MEbU (Münster Earport), establish their permanent workshop—and at the same time a trendy art space for contemporary music—in the revitalized “Stocki,” right in the heart of the Alps.
