The cross-country skiing elite as guests in Goms

Media release
With a top-class field of participants, the Coop FIS Cross-Country World Cup next weekend promises thrilling races. The international cross-country skiing elite have registered for the Olympic dress rehearsal in Goms.

The Coop FIS Cross-Country World Cup Goms boasts a field of participants that is one of the strongest of the season in terms of breadth and quality. Athletes from over 20 nations will be competing from Friday to Sunday.
Norway: Dominance in a row
Norway is traveling with an almost complete World Cup team. Johannes Høsflot Klæbo, five-time Tour de Ski winner, is one of the big favorites in the short distances. Harald Østberg Amundsen and Martin Løwstrøm Nyenget are seeded in the distance races. In the women's race, Tiril Udnes Weng and Lotta Udnes Weng will return to the World Cup after their health-related absence. The sprint team is led by Kristine Stavås Skistad , who is one of the fastest in the world.

Sweden: Stable starting position
The top-class line-up includes Edvin Anger, Linn Svahn, Emma Ribom and Maja Dahlqvist, who regularly secure podium places at World Cup and championship level.

Finland: Extended group of favorites
Finland traditionally arrives with a strong classic block. The team is not as broad as Norway or Sweden, but it has some athletes who regularly finish in the top 10, such as Joni Mäki, Perttu Hyvärinen and Kerttu Niskanen in the women's event.

USA: Versatility and experience
Jessie Diggins travels to Goms as a three-time overall World Cup winner. Her victory at the Tour de Ski 2026 underlined her form - she is one of the podium contenders in all disciplines. Julia Kern and Rosie Brennan are also competitive in the sprint and middle distance.

Switzerland: home advantage and ambitions
Nadine Fähndrich is the Swiss hopeful. The sprint specialist has been running consistently in the top places recently and wants to confirm her podium finish from 2024 in Goms in front of a home crowd. Valerio Grond, Janik Riebli and Beda Klee are seeded in the men's race - all with World Cup experience and podium ambitions. Young skiers such as Jason Rüesch also have a chance of starting.

Italy and France are also in strong form. Athletes such as Federico Pellegrino and Jules Chappaz are regularly among the top 10 skiers this season and significantly expand the field of favorites.
In addition to the established names, young talents also get the chance to prove themselves on the big stage. The races in Goms are regarded as a yardstick for form ahead of the Olympic Games. Can the favorites prevail or will there be surprises?
The organizers are looking forward to a sporting showdown against a unique backdrop. Preparations for next weekend are in full swing - the Goms is ready for world-class cross-country skiing.
