The gateway to the south.

Ulrichen.

At the foot of the Nufenen Pass

The name Ulrichen comes from an Alemannic clan elder. With the Nufenen and Gries passes, Ulrichen is the gateway to the south. Could this have inspired the local pasta factory? In the past, it was the mule drivers and traders who shaped the mountain village. Today, it is travellers who want to drive and climb the beautiful Gommer passes in all their variations. For a long time, Ulrichen was almost "besieged" by the Swiss Army, with all the advantages and disadvantages that this entailed. Today, the former army site offers opportunities that are far from exhausted. For example, the Nordic Centre has been created, where cross-country skiing races in almost every category take place.
