High above the valley runs the 27 km long Gommer Höhenweg through the fascinating and authentic natural and cultural landscape of the Goms. The path leads on beautiful trails through magnificent fragrant larch forests and over wide alpine meadows.
As a comfortable one-day route of the Gommer Höhenweg, the enjoyable section from Münster to Bellwald is recommended. Flowers that are otherwise only seen in botanical books line the varied path through the young Rhone valley. Down in the valley, villages and peaceful hamlets with their typical sun-tanned wooden houses can be found. In the distance, several four-thousand-meter peaks, including the striking pyramid of the Weisshorn (4505m), line the horizon.
The hike can also be undertaken in the opposite direction.
During the hike, you pass the mountain hut Walibach. Wonderful opportunities to stop and refresh.

Author´s Tip / Recommendation of the author
High above Reckingen is the rustic hut z'Guferschmatte. The food and drink menu is small, simple, and of course adjusted to genuine Goms products.
The mountain hut Walibach is also located on the Gommer Höhenweg at 1680 m above sea level, in the midst of our beautiful alpine world in the Bieligertal, and invites you to linger.
Safety guidelines
Use of the hiking trails is at your own risk. The Obergoms Tourismus AG disclaims all liability and assumes no responsibility for the accuracy and completeness of the information on this website.
Carry a hiking map with you or download the complete description of the hiking trail with a large-scale map. Use only signposted routes and observe all markings and signposts - for your own safety, to protect the landscape, and out of respect for wildlife. Behave considerately towards other path users. Take your rubbish and any rubbish you find with you.
Weather conditions in the mountains can change very quickly and without warning. Suitable clothing and sufficient provisions (food and drink) are very important. In unsettled weather, it is better to return early.
Carry additional sun protection. UV rays at high altitudes can be very strong, even under cloudy skies.
Plan your route carefully and thoroughly. Inform yourself in advance about the current conditions and weather. The summer report provides valuable information from the region in this respect.
