Spinning and weaving were once part of everyday life in rural regions. Handmade textiles were displaced by industrially produced ones and old traditions were lost.
Founded in 2015, the ROSENGANG* association aims to promote, revive and modernize traditional textile crafts in Upper Valais. We now have over 130 members!
The Kaplaneihaus in Münster VS is home to a textile MUSEUM with a historical weaving room, exhibits and information on regional raw materials (flax and wool) and a collection of weaving patterns by Monika Carlen from Goms.
In our course workshop there are seven equipped looms where you can weave to your heart's content. We also offer a varied program of courses and workshops in various textile techniques.
In summer, we wash, dye and spin wool as public events, and our "dye garden" behind the house also blossoms in summer.
Current temporary exhibition:"The needles are rattling - the creative diversity of knitting".
From 5 July, a new special exhibition: "Textile works inspired by the Goms larch forest and its splendid colors".
