Klezmer ensemble

Course
from CHF 1,410.00 p.P.

Course content

"Rejoicing to the skies and saddened to death". Do you know the wonderfully melancholy klezmer music from Eastern Europe? The fiery "Bulgar" or the heart-rending "Nigun"? This course offers an introduction to Yiddish music, its special playing styles, the various common rhythms, the basic principles of impromptu accompaniment, the history of this music and a repertoire of pieces. We learn most of the pieces from sheet music, sometimes more, sometimes less notated, but we may also learn a piece without sheet music, as is the tradition of this music. The sheet music will be adapted for the registered instruments.
