The village of Goms without a village center
Like most place names ending in -ingen, Gluringen owes its name to the Alemannic advances into the Alps. The name has not changed since it was first mentioned around 1203. Compared to most villages in Goms, the houses in Gluringen are spread over a considerable area and it is difficult to identify a village center. For many years, village life was also shaped by the Swiss army, which is increasingly withdrawing from the mountain valleys.
