Capanna Corno Gries

The Val Corno, which stretches from the Capanna Corno Gries to the Passo del Corno, is highly interesting in terms of landscape and geology. Garnet inclusions in the slate on the Gries Pass, picturesque Gries Lake on the edge of the glacier world. Between the Nufenen Pass and Val Formazza, there is little that reminds one of the Ticino as it is commonly imagined. Despite this, or perhaps because of it, the area around the Corno Gries hut is a spectacular spot of southern Canton. It is particularly suitable for hiking, children's vacations, skiing and summit tours and as a staging post for long-distance hikes.
