On Saturday, 3 September 2022, Obergoms Tourismus AG (OTAG) organized the bronze tour start as part of the Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet bike marathon and hosted a refreshment station. The event was a success: despite rainy weather forecasts, around 250 cyclists were able to enjoy the view from Ulrichen airfield up to the Galenstock at 9.40 a.m. sharp at the start of the Bronze Tour. A total of around 3,000 participants in the Alpenbrevet were catered for in Ulrichen.
For this major cycling marathon, participants could choose between four different tours: Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze. The latter had its starting point in Ulrichen and led over two passes. After the start, the route first went up to the Nufenen Pass. After the descent to Airolo, the Gotthard Pass had to be conquered before the racers reached the finish in Andermatt.

Extra train for participants staying overnight in Goms
For Samuel Hofmann, Managing Director of OTAG, the day started early. At 4.00 a.m. he was already on the special train from Fiesch to Andermatt, handing out bars to the participants of the Alpenbrevet for refreshment and motivation. The extra train was organized by OTAG so that riders on the platinum, gold and silver tours could spend the night in Goms and reach the starting area in Andermatt on time. Everyone was delighted with the morning surprise and appreciated it.

The refreshment post in Ulrichen was running at full speed
The OTAG and the volunteers had their hands full ensuring that the many participants could be fed. After all, there were around 500 riders on the platinum tour, 1,000 on the gold tour and 1,250 on the silver tour. Due to the cold and wet weather, the warm boullion was in particularly high demand, so that OTAG had to constantly seek supplies at the Hotel Walser so that the riders could continue their ride warmed up.

We are already looking forward to the next edition of the Swiss Cycling Alpenbrevet, which will take place on September 2, 2023!
