The hut is located at an altitude of 2394 m on a small shoulder below the Mittläberg, 2500 m. In a splendid position with an unobstructed view to the west from the Weisshorn to the Dents du Midi, it is an ideal starting point for easy ski tours in the rear Binntal or as a starting point for traverses or round tours in the rear Formazza valley with famous and rewarding peaks such as the Blinnenhorn, 3373 m, Ofenhorn, 3235 m or Rappenhorn, 3158 m, to name but a few. In summer, the Binntal is famous for its minerals and landscape park. Easy and solitary glacier tours, radiator excursions and ideal hiking terrain for families are the arguments for a stay in the small hut. The Mittlenberg hut has 22 places in two bedrooms on the upper floor, lounge, kitchen and hut warden's room on the first floor. In 1997, after a major reconstruction from military accommodation to tourist accommodation, the hut was opened. A second remodel in 2008 added more comfort for guests with an increase in sleeping quarters and the installation of a Norwegian composting toilet. Caroline Beley has been serving as cabin warden since this summer. The hut is open in winter during March and April and in summer from the end of June until the beginning of October. There is no winter room and the hut is not accessible without maintenance. By appointment, however, I am happy to go up to service guests outside the opening hours, provided that weather and conditions are worthwhile.
